Families First provides solutions that combine housing and social services to help people facing complex challenges live more stable, productive lives. We collaborate with other agencies to deliver housing along with support services and training that promote family self-sufficiency and collaborative community support.
Community Engagement Services
Successful community engagement happens when we set up a community with the tools to help itself and others long-term. Our Community Engagement Services programs engage families as change agents and positive contributors to their communities. Through a series of life skills seminars, case coordination, and dynamic community engagement, our work improves economic self-sufficiency, promotes civic activity, and fosters collaborative support among community members.
Our Community and Parent Engagement program’s primary purpose is to empower family engagement in the school system. The program doesn’t just focus on youth engagement but also encourages strong parental involvement and support.
We found that community and parent engagement is an ongoing process that increases active participation, communication, and collaboration between parents, schools, and communities with the goal of educating the whole child to ensure student achievement and success. Improving parent engagement grows leaders that will become more civically engaged, particularly among at-risk populations. Families First recognizes that the combination of being a supportive parent and actively participating is what ultimately makes an engaged parent.
Transitional & Supportive Housing
Finding a safe, comfortable yet temporary living environment – coupled with the appropriate support services and access to other existing community resources – may be all that a family needs to steady themselves for long-term success. Our services support those with nowhere else to go, from young mothers trying to get ahead, to those who are working to eliminate substance abuse, deal with illness and/or achieve emotional stability.
