Raising Expectations Partners with Families First to Build a Resilient Westside Community

ResilienceReport

“We need organizations and partners that understand what collective impact means. It’s exciting to be able to be in a partnership with Families First who is leveraging their strengths and ours. Together we can move the community, and more importantly, the families we are supporting forward.”

Raising Expectations empowers youth in crises by elevating academic, social and civic expectations to facilitate high school graduation and post-secondary plans. When the shutdown began last March, Raising Expectations went virtual and supported its families with a triage strategy to ensure they received food, laptops, Wi-Fi hot spots and cell phones access to PPE and cleaning supplies along with assistance in paying rent and utilities.

As the 2020-2021 school year approached, Raising Expectations found a home in Families First’s Washington Park headquarters where they are currently serving up to 50 students in person every day from the Washington Cluster Schools. The Families First and Raising Expectations partnership brings to life our Navigator Care Model on the Westside. By connecting their families and youth with counseling services and launching a Navigator Care Model pilot, we can continue to help their families build resilience and thrive during these challenging times.
