Parenting and Adoption Support Services (PASS)

    Families First provides a variety of parenting and adoption support services to strengthen family resiliency including:

    • parenting classes
    • visitation and legitimation support
    • and comprehensive support, training and access to community resources for adoptive, guardianship, kinship and foster parents.

    Partners in Parenting (PIP) is an interactive educational curriculum designed to help parents navigate the transitions of divorce and separation with confidence and care. Grounded in children’s developmental and emotional needs, the curriculum equips parents with positive, supportive strategies to create a nurturing environment during times of change. Available through in-person, virtual, and online formats, PIP offers flexible training options to fit a variety of family situations.

    Parenting Time (Access and Visitation) services are for parents and guardians who are seeking legitimation and visitation services. This is a 90-day program that includes both educational seminars and case management services to assist custodial and non-custodial parents to work together in the best interest of their children. The ultimate goal of Parenting Time is to increase parents’ access to and visitation with their children.

    NTDC classes equip foster, kinship, and adoptive parents with the essential skills and knowledge needed to care for children who have experienced trauma, loss, and separation. Taught by trained, experienced providers, the curriculum strengthens family resiliency and prepares caregivers to meet the unique needs of children in foster care. Upon completion, prospective caregivers receive their certificates and move forward toward fulfilling the additional requirements to help children thrive.
